There’s a kind of “place” and a kind of “time” that only come into being when I draw. Coming back to the same place, I find another time flowing there, or the time is the same, but something is happening in another place. To engage with the “here and now” often means imagining another place and another time.
SUZUKI Hiraku
Hiraku Suzuki will walk about the museum. Stopping at different places at different times, he will spread paper and start drawing. Musician UENO Takashi Ueno be a guest musician. Their impromptu actions, occurring at random times in random places, will intersect with the space-time of the exhibition. We invite you to tour the museum and endeavor to discover their creative actions.

Born in Miyagi, Japan in 1978. Lives in Berlin, Germany.
Suzuki Hiraku, who had been exploring expression using sound such as field recording, gradually began to create two-dimensional visual works using soil and leaves as materials. Today he works across a wide range of media, including live painting, installation, wall painting, drawing on paper, video, and casting. What remains consistent throughout his artistic practice, which has seen him work and live not only in Japan, but in various locations overseas including Paris, Australia, Brazil, New York, and London, is his pursuit of drawing or line-making as an expression of the scene of creation, or becoming, through his close relation to familiar materials and environments.
Besides his band activities with Saya in Tenniscoats since 1997, Ueno has also released several solo guitar albums. Suzuki Hiraku designed the cover for his album “Sui-gin,” released by the Australian label ROOM 40 in 2008.
Ueno also undertakes collaborations and performance sessions with varying people, including Suzuki Hiraku, Umeda Tetsuya, contact Gonzo, Ikunishi Yasunori, Namaiki, Nikaido Kazumi, Fuwa Daisuke, Akiyama Tetsuji, and Nakamura Akikazu. In 2012, Ueno took part in a band newly formed by OORUTAICHI.
The document of this performance with 2 hours sound and 512 photos is now on view in the exhibition space.
