First of all, the form of a large jet-black lump with a supporting part that represents one’s lower half of the body draws attention. It vividly shows how negative feelings hidden inside one’s body are almost overf lowing. The leg slightly raised from the ground suggests loneliness and anxiety. At the Shinto shrine that is the venue of this work, many people face their own self, and there is a strong wish to break one’s shell with the jet-black lump rising up to heaven. The dignity and beauty of humans wholive bravely even though they bear pitch-darkness inside are powerfully expressed.
