Golden Marubi Week ’14

During the Golden Week holidays of May, the Museum holds colorful events indoors and in its Open Space. Besides an “Art za Market” art flea market where creators sell their works, they include music and performances in the Stage and Public Zones, operation of a miniature steam locomotive, and tea ceremonies and various workshops. Children as well as adults gather for lively fun, drawn by the fine spring weather.

Artist In Residence of Toyota Choreography Award 2012 Seki Kaori (Dancer, Choreographer)

Toyota Choreography Award seeks characteristic choreography from the next generation beyond genre or career, and supports the choreographers’ artistic progress. SEKI Kaori, awardee of the 2012 “Next Generation Choreographer Award,” will undertake in-residence creation in Kanazawa and publically present the results. Our third artist residency in this program, which closely follows the creative process of emerging choreographers.

Hiroshi Koike Bridge Project
Milky Way Train

The “Hiroshi Koike Bridge Project” was launched by director KOIKE Hiroshi after the 3.11 Earthquake in 2012 and disbanding Pappa TARAHUMARA, a leading performing arts company for thirty years. Koike has reconstructed the MIYAZAWA Kenji fairy tales “Night on the Milky Way Train” and “The Glacier-Rat Fur Skin,” taking as his core concepts, “the living and the dead” and “the human and the nature.” The work will be performed in five locations in Japan including Kanazawa.
